Ailing barrister Sir Wilfrid Robarts takes on a case, much to the consternation of his nurse Miss Plimsoll. Leonard Stephen Vole is accused of the murder of Emily French, an older woman he was seeing. Sir Wilfred has an uphill struggle on his hands.
