Chasing Rainbows Gala w/Steve Winwood

We are pleased to announce the 2nd annual "Chasing Rainbows" Gala at the Fox is now scheduled for Sunday night, November 18! Relive the glamour and excitement of opening night in 1930 when guests enjoyed the MGM musical "Chasing Rainbows" starring Jack Benny (and introducing the classic song "Happy Days are Here Again")! We invite you to join us to celebrate all that the Fox Theatre has meant to Tucson and Southern Arizona over the last 80-plus years. Individual tickets are priced at $75 and $150, the host committee costs $600, and sponsorships start at $1000. All proceeds benefit the Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation’s efforts to keep the lights on, the doors open, and high quality entertainment coming to YOUR Fox Theatre!

Steve Winwood was just a teenager when he rocketed into the international spotlight as the prodigious singer of the Spencer Davis Group. By 1967 he and others (including Dave Mason), formed the band Traffic, whose hits included the epic “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.” In 1969 Winwood joined Eric Clapton and others for the short-lived “supergroup” Blind Faith.
Winwood’s solo career begin in the late 1970s and had a string of extremely successful albums in the 1980s, including Arc of a Diver (1980) and the Grammy Award-winning Back in the High Life (1986), with chart-topping hits that included: While You See a Chance, Valerie, and Higher Love. Since then Winwood has continued to record and tour regularly. Winwood was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic in 2004, and in 2008, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him #33 in its 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
